Acute and Trauma Related Reconstruction Surgery
The CMC Orthopaedic Trauma service provides advanced care for all aspects of musculoskeletal injuries and has a specific expertise and interest in severe open fractures, pelvic and acetabular fractures and high-energy joint injuries.
The ortho trauma service collaborates with the CMC Infectious Disease team and the CMC plastic surgeons to care for patients referred for osteomyelitis (bone infection).

- Members of the trauma faculty have authored more than 100 scientific research papers related to all aspects of trauma care and regularly lecture on these topics across the country and the world.
- The quality of their research was recognized in 2003 when the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery awarded them the Kappa Delta Award - the highest orthopedic research honor.
- The Orthopaedic Trauma service was recently selected as one of the core centers in the DOD-sponsored Major Extremity Trauma Research Consortium (METRC) (PDF). This Consortium was developed to address the major challenges faced by our Nation's Wounded Warriors.
