FAQ

Q: How long will I stay in the hospital?
A: Your doctors will decide when you are medically ready to leave the hospital. Your social worker will begin talking with you about your discharge needs as soon as possible so that any services, such as homecare, will be arranged before you leave the hospital.

Q: What kind of treatment will I receive?
A: The health care team of doctor, nurse, and other caregivers will work together to assess your needs to provide the care that you need (while here in the hospital and at discharge).

Q: Will my insurance cover the costs of hospitalization?
A: When necessary, the case management team will contact your insurance provider to update them on your medical status and discharge planning needs.

Q: How do I apply for Medicaid?
A: If you are a patient in the hospital and have questions about Medicaid, you can contact the Case Management Department or Pam Jackson, at 704-789-7928.

Q: What if I need some care, a nursing home, or rehabilitation when I leave?
A: Social workers can assist you in obtaining services after you leave the hospital. They can meet with you and your family to discuss the services that would best meet your needs.

Q: Is there someone who can counsel me on personal or family issues?
A: Social workers have training to assist with a broad range of individual and family concerns. They can also provide referrals to agencies in the community. View our local resources online.

Q: Are there support groups or other community resources available?
A: There are many support groups that meet at the hospital. You can contact your social worker for information about a specific group. Your social worker can assist you in finding the right group or community resource that will meet your needs.
