Progressive Coronary Care
The Progressive Coronary Care Unit (PCCU) is a 28-bed unit which specializes in service to patients requiring cardiac monitoring. Nurses monitor a patient's heart rhythms, document the readings and take appropriate measures for patient care. Administering appropriate medical interventions including medicines and postoperative care, nurses care for patients 24 hours a day.
The PCCU provides compassionate care to patients with hemodynamically stable myocardial infarctions (heart attacks), unstable and stable angina, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, cardiac dysrthymias (irregular heartbeat,) syncope (fainting), non-acute hypertensive disease (high blood pressure), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated with cardiac compromise. PCCU specializes in service to patients requiring cardiac monitoring by telemetry. Nurses monitor a patient's heart rhythm, interpret and document the readings and take appropriate measures for patient care.
PCCU also provides ongoing educational material and counseling regarding cardiac disease, medications and postoperative care throughout the patient's hospital stay and prior to the patient's discharge from the care of PCCU nursing staff.
