Frequently Asked Questions

What is a "Healthcare Pavilion?"

A healthcare pavilion is a new type of outpatient facility designed to improve access to the most highly utilized healthcare services in a cost-effective, safe and patient-friendly way. The facility will contain an emergency room, which is operated and staffed just as a hospital emergency department, with emergency care available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from board-certified emergency medicine physicians. Should a patient require a period of extended examination or treatment, the healthcare pavilion will also operate observation beds.

Advanced imaging equipment, including a state-of-the-art CT scanner, ultrasound, and X-ray capability, will be available on-site, providing the same level of diagnostic capability as a hospital emergency room. The healthcare pavilion will also provide laboratory services. Our CMC healthcare pavilions will have an emergency department and advanced imaging.

Why a Healthcare Pavilion?

It is a very cost-efficient way to provide superior healthcare to growing areas. Studies have shown that most people who come to the hospital don't need hospitalization. They either need emergency outpatient treatment or a scheduled outpatient procedure. A healthcare pavilion can be built for much less than a community hospital, yet it provides access to the most highly utilized patient services.

In essence, the healthcare pavilion is an innovative new concept that will improve the access and most importantly the convenience of the outpatient health care services patients use most. The healthcare pavilion is only one piece of CMC's strategy to bring superior healthcare to our patients and community. As part of CMC's effort to establish convenient and accessible centers for all outpatient services, CMC-Morrocroft will share the site with our physician office buildings.

Is this a New Idea?

Healthcare pavilions have been around for many years and are becoming more common as care delivery has become more outpatient. There is a successful healthcare pavilion in the Steele Creek area in Southwest Mecklenburg County.

Where Will CMC-Morrocroft be Located?

The healthcare pavilion will be located at 6965 Fairview Road, Charlotte, NC 28211, near the intersection of Fairview Road and Cameron Valley Parkway.

How Big is it and What Types of Physicians will Practice There?

CMC-Morrocroft will be about 30,000 square feet. Physicians practicing at this location already include primary care, women's health, various specialists and an urgent care center.

When Will it Open?

CMC-Morrocroft is scheduled to open in early 2014.
