A full range of inpatient and outpatient procedures are performed in CMC-Mercy's surgical care areas. Our trained staff is committed to providing excellent service to patients and their families in our:
Endoscopy Lab/Same Day Procedures at CMC-Mercy
The area contains three suites dedicated to performing endoscopy procedures, one room for bronchoscopy procedures, and one for minor surgery and chronic pain procedures. Pre- and post-surgical care can also be provided in the department, which has its own entrance and waiting area.
Pre- and Post-Operative Areas
Both CMC-Mercy's Pre- and Post-Operative Areas are staffed with highly trained individuals to prepare patients for surgical procedures and recover them after the procedure. Our commitment to your recovery starts before your procedure and continues even after your discharge.
To help our patients and their families prepare for surgical procedures, a registered nurse from our team routinely calls our patients the day before the surgical procedure to obtain vital information about patients' health status. Advance pre-operative visits are only scheduled prior to the day of surgery, if medically necessary. Post-surgery—all outpatients are contacted by a Registered Nurse the day after surgery to check on their status and answer any questions.
At CMC-Mercy, specially-trained physicians can perform minimally-invasive surgeries using a robotic surgery system. Robot-assisted surgery, because it is less invasive than conventional surgery, provides better outcomes for patients, getting them back to their lives healthier and quicker.
At CMC-Mercy, robotic-trained surgeons are experts in a variety of specialties including:
- Bariatrics (Weight loss surgery)
- Complex general surgery
The operating room at CMC-Mercy was recently renovated to upgrade the technologies and equipment for our various surgical specialties the Bariatric Center, Hip & Knee Center, Foot & Ankle Institute, an Endovascular Suite, as well as a full range of inpatient and outpatient services.
- Orthopedic surgery to include sports medicine, spine surgery and hand surgery
- General surgery to include all types of laparoscopic procedures
- Open heart surgery
- Cardiothoracic surgery
- Plastic surgery
- Oral/Maxillofacial surgery
A Family Waiting Area is available that is staffed by hospital personnel and volunteers to ensure continuous communication about patients during their surgical experience. Beepers are also available for individuals so they can leave the area with the comfort of knowing they can be reached with updates about someone having surgery.
