How To Apply for Financial Aid
To apply for a financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using your previous year's federal tax report. This application may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our Title IV code is 006478.

Other Sources of Financial Aid
- North Carolina Nurse Scholars
This is a state program for nursing students who agree to work in North Carolina after graduation. The scholarship/loan awards $3,000 per year based on academic merit. Only those students who are enrolled for full-time study (12 credit hours per semester) are eligible. If you are unsure about your status, call the school.
- N.C. Student Loan Program for Health, Science and Mathematics
This is a state loan program for nursing students of $3,000 per year based on financial need. The loan is repaid through employment after graduation in designated health shortage areas or in state facilities. You must be a full-time student to qualify for this loan. For application, consult the brochure included in your financial aid packet.
- Employment Security Commission or Department of Labor
Locally based employment offices have funds available for displaced workers for job training (i.e. WIA). Many of these programs will pay the costs of attendance for a student. For more information, contact your local Employment Security Commission office or Joblink Center.
- Veteran's Educational Benefits
Mercy School of Nursing is an approved program through the Department of Veteran's Affairs.
- Community Hospitals, Health Agencies
Many community hospitals and other health agencies offer tuition assistance to employees or residents of the community. Check with your employer or local agency.
- Carolinas HealthCare System Loan Program
This loan provides 80 percent of tuition and fee costs. Complete information is mailed to students prior to enrollment.
- Other scholarship opportunities will arise during your time as a student. A scholarship/financial aid bulletin board is used to post this information.
