Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy (CMC-Mercy) believes that providing truly outstanding healthcare means caring for a person whose needs include a comfortable environment, a friendly face and a reassuring touch in addition to state-of-the-art medical services. For more than 100 years, CMC-Mercy has treated patients with a special combination of unsurpassed human compassion and leading-edge expertise.
CMC-Mercy was established in 1906 by the Sisters of Mercy as the first Catholic Hospital in North Carolina. On June 5, 1995, this not-for-profit adult health tertiary acute care facility was sold by the Sisters to Carolinas HealthCare System. CMC-Mercy is licensed for 162 beds.
As an adult acute care facility, CMC-Mercy provides a full-range of services, from emergency room care to surgery to rehabilitation. We serve as the home to some of the area's most advanced specialty services, such as complex orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery and The Center for Pelvic Health.
