Carolinas HealthCare System hospitals provide high quality medical care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and also provide an automatic discount to all uninsured patients, regardless of their ability to pay. In addition, for the hospitals noted above, CHS provides 100 percent write-off on current medical bills for patients whose household income is less than 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guideline and equity ownership of property of less than $150,000. Patients must first take all the steps necessary to obtain Medicaid coverage before their eligibility for financial assistance is determined.
For patients who do not qualify for a full 100 percent write-off on their bill, our financial counselors are available to help determine potential opportunities for partial assistance with catastrophic medical bills. Upon approval for financial assistance, other current hospital accounts and future hospital accounts will be eligible for the same level of assistance, for a period of 90 days from the date of approval.
Carolinas HealthCare System provides a variety of payment options, including Online Billing Manager and long-term payment plans.
