The Carolinas HealthCare System Advanced Practitioner Fellowship in Hospital Medicine will provide focused education for the Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician Assistant on the role of a Hospitalist. Hospital Medicine has become one of the fastest-growing fields of medicine owing to increasingly complex patients and societal pressures for the most efficient delivery of health care in the hospital setting. As general internal medicine practitioners, fellows will be exposed to the wide scope of medical issues admitted to the hospital.
Instruction will be via dedicated faculty-provided didactics, case-presentations, and one-on-one preceptorships with attending physicians.
By completing this fellowship, the learner will develop their critical thinking, diagnostic skills, experience in management of complex medical patients, and leadership skills to provide safe, efficient, cost-effective and specialized care to the adult hospitalized acute care patient.
