The Medical Laboratory Science program prepares students to work in hospital laboratory settings or in other industries such as sales, research, fertility, forensics, and public health. Medical laboratory scientists are part of a team of medical specialists who work together to determine the presence, extent or absence of disease. Please be aware that only complete applications with transcripts and references will be processed.

The instructions below will help you submit a complete application. We suggest that you submit your online application, fee and all transcripts at the same time. There are five easy steps to apply:

Step 1 - Application

Submit your completed program application and the non-refundable $50 application fee.

Step 2 - College Transcripts

A minimum 2.5 cumulative college GPA is required and a 2.5 minimum math/science GPA is required. Submit official, unopened college transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.

Step 3 – Baccalaureate Degree (in biology, chemistry or related science)

Submit official transcripts showing completion of baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution preferably in biology, chemistry, or related science. Proof of successful completion must be submitted prior to program entry. Minimum 16 semester hours in biology including microbiology with a lab and immunology; 12 semester hours in chemistry including organic chemistry or biochemistry; and 3 semester hours in statistics. Microbiology, immunology, and organic chemistry (or biochemistry) must be updated if not completed within the last seven years.

Step 4 – Three Sealed Completed Carolinas College Reference Forms

Submit three, sealed references on the Carolinas College Reference forms from an instructor, employer or academic advisor.

Step 5 – Deadline

Submit a complete application by the deadline. All required documents must be received by the deadline.

International Applicants (or those with foreign transcripts)

Applicants must be citizens of the United States or hold permanent resident status. Carolinas College of Health Sciences does not authorize student visas. Applicants with foreign transcripts are required to present an official transcript evaluation from the agency listed below that includes all of the courses attempted, credit and grades earned.
