A Mobile Hospital for Disasters, Hospital Outages, Community and Sporting Events
Carolinas MED-1, the first-of-its-kind mobile hospital, and owned by Carolinas HealthCare System, is designed to provide comprehensive patient care at the site of a disaster or other mass casualty incident.
This versatile facility can also be used to temporarily replace or supplement a hospital emergency department, and is an excellent facility for providing on-site medical care for community, sporting or other events that attract large crowds.
Owned by Carolinas HealthCare System and based in Charlotte, NC, it is staffed by a trained team of medical professionals and support personnel. It is capable of delivering life-saving treatment measures and comprehensive medical-surgical care in a clean, clinical environment.
For Emergency Management Personnel
When Disaster Strikes
When hospitals are damaged or destroyed, Carolinas MED-1 can provide a high level of medical care to survivors and rescue personnel, as it did in coastal Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
For Hospital/Healthcare Leaders
Advanced Mobile Care
When a hospital undergoes renovation or loses its emergency department to fire, flood or other damage, hospital administrators can call upon Carolinas MED-1, as was done in 2008 in Columbus, IN., and in 2011 in Phoenix, AZ.
