Dr. Matkins has written curricula for Adolescent Medicine, Term Nursery and Child Abuse for residents, medical students and fellows. In coordination with The Center for Advancing Pediatric Excellence (CAPE), she has worked on multiple resident-led quality improvement projects serving as the faculty champion. She was an early adopter of electronic medical records and enjoys teaching tips in EMR. However, her teaching philosophy is becoming more “old school”: limited use of Power Point to engage learners and teachers; use of multimedia without complete dependence; and utilizing short, teachable moments within busy clinical settings. Dr. Matkins has extensive experience in multidisciplinary team approaches to patient care, including integrated mental health services. In her role as a fellow, Dr. Matkins will facilitate best practices in quality improvement, teaching and learning.
