Dr. Steve O'Brien joined Cabarrus Pediatrics in 1995 after serving as pediatric chief resident at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Although he enjoys all areas of pediatrics, he has a particular interest in nutrition, fitness and weight management. Dr. O'Brien speaks fluent "pediatric Spanish" and serves as volunteer physician and medical advisor to La Aljaba Children's Home, an orphanage in Colombia, South America. He serves on the board of DreamOn3, an organization that provides sports-related "dreams" to children with chronic medical and development issues. He has been recognized multiple times as a "Best Doctor" by America's Best Doctors, Charlotte Magazine, and the North Carolina Business Journal.
He and his wife, Kathy, have four children and spend much of their time cheering them on in their various educational, sports and dance pursuits. Dr. O'Brien is an avid basketball player and a life-long sports fan of his alma mater, Duke University.
