Dr. Hurst received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin with honors and his medical degree from the University of Texas in Houston. He completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Hurst is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including Who’s Who in Medicine, and The Best Doctors in America. He has written a weekly women’s health column, published in the (now defunct) Denver Rocky Mountain News and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and has been involved in many presentations and lectures. He has also written over 120 publications (peer review papers, chapters, and reviews) and a textbook, currently rated #2,427,968 in Kindle Store.

Dr. Hurst has been involved with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Patient Education Committee, served on the Board of Directors for the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology (SREI) and Infertility, served as chair of the Practice Committee, and will be President of the Fibroid Special Interest Group in 2016-17. He is a member of numerous professional societies such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. He currently is Director of Assisted Reproduction at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He enjoys spending time with his family, including his two daughters, and enjoys walking with Simon, his dog, especially when the weather is nice.
