Carolinas HealthCare System has a long tradition of civic leadership and a legacy of caring that reveals itself at every level of operations. The organization prides itself on being a leader in charitable support, community development, educational outreach and public health.
For example, CHS employees serve in leadership roles for literally hundreds of organizations, and collectively donate tens of thousands of hours of volunteer time each and every year. CHS employees are noted for a generous spirit, donating more than $2.2 million in individual gifts to United Way during 2007; more than $420,000 to the Arts & Science Council; and more than $640,000 to the Children's Miracle Network.
CHS has modeled a number of innovative wellness programs for other employers, while supporting local schools generously through innovative screening and nutrition programs. In addition, employees participate actively in community-based projects such as Habitat for Humanity, Cancer Survivors' Day, playground builds, holiday gift exchanges and school supply donations for underprivileged children.
These investments of time and effort provide a valuable supplement to all of the regular investments made to enhance the quality and accessibility of healthcare services in communities served by CHS.
