The Community Relations Department coordinates Carolina HealthCare System's involvement in projects that benefit the community. "Building Strong and Healthy Communities" was created by the Community Involvement Council, a volunteer committee comprised of employees throughout CHS. Our purpose is to inspire CHS employees to simply make a difference in our community, and provide opportunities to serve in three distinct ways:
Volunteerism
CHS employees volunteer their time year-round to help others in need. CHS sponsors an annual playground build, book drive, back-to-school supplies drive, and the Christmas Bureau project - allowing employees to give back to the community.
Community Relations offers ongoing opportunities for you and members of your family to volunteer in community programs, projects or activities. Whether you have time during your lunch, in the evening or on weekends, Community Relations will try to match you with opportunities that meet your interests and availability. The needs are great and so are the rewards. For more information, contact Lois Ingland or Donna Lockhart in Community Relations at 704-446-3000.
Advocacy
Many CHS employees serve on boards for health and human service agencies, cultural facilities, and public policy committees; emerging as leaders by volunteering their time to serve the community.
Charitable Giving
Community Relations promotes two non-profit organizations through our workplace giving campaigns. United Way of Central Carolinas supports health and human services organizations within our community. The Arts and Science Council supports cultural facilities, by providing funding to the arts, sciences, and historical partners in our community. These campaigns enable our employees to donate funds through their workplace, in support of these important community efforts.
