As a smart consumer, you investigate quality before making a purchase or investing in a service. Whether it's checking values and reliability statistics for an automobile purchase or comparison shopping, feature by feature, for a new home, quality matters. But nowhere else does quality matter more than with your most valuable asset -- your health.
At Carolinas HealthCare System, we are committed to ensuring that the care you receive from our hospitals, practices and people meet the highest standards. But you don't have to take our word for it. More of our physicians are certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality, than any other healthcare organization in North Carolina. And even more of our physicians are seeking this credential.
NCQA certifies physicians in two key areas -- Heart/Stroke and Diabetes. By pursuing and maintaining these credentials, physicians show their commitment to using evidence-based measures to provide excellent care for their patients who suffer from these considitions.
In addition, NCQA recognizes Physician Practice Connections, another quality credential, developed with input from the American College of Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Osteopathic Association, to recognize practices who emphasize the use of systematic, patient-centered, coordinated care management processes.
