The Diversity Advisory Committee (DAC) continues its commitment to focus on:
- The mix of minority physicians and residents within Carolinas HealthCare System
- The assessment of the level of participation of minority physicians in Carolinas HealthCare System-affiliated managed care plans
The DAC continues to develop its relationship with the Charlotte Medical Society as well as other physicians in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. In its effort to support CHS recruitment, the DAC encourages minority physicians interested in being a part of the CHS medical community to submit their resumes to the DAC via e-mail through this website. The DAC does not make an offer or promise employment to any candidate. Resumes will be made available to those recruiting physicians for CHS and other interested physician practices.
Diversity Advisory Committee services are available for recruitment for postgraduate training programs and affiliated group practices. As a retention effort, DAC members are available as a networking resource to groups affiliated with Carolinas HealthCare. This initiative is a joint effort between DAC and the Charlotte Medical Society.
DAC does not recruit, promote or recommend physicians for the sake of improving diversity alone. Rather, it only recommends qualified and capable candidates for employment consideration. Carolinas HealthCare senior management and physicians recognize that as a result of diversity, the staff has a richer mix of professionals who offer quality care to patients and families.
"To Carolinas HealthCare System, diversity makes good business sense." In addition to the above areas of concern, the Diversity Advisory Committee has worked with Carolinas HealthCare System administration to promote the value of diversity within its employee base through the development of a highly successful annual educational conference, The Competitive Edge: Excellence in HealthCare For A Diverse Community. At this conference, Carolinas HealthCare System brings in nationally recognized experts in the area of diversity to educate staff and a regional audience of health care practitioners on best practices in the area of diversity management.
The Diversity Advisory Committee also supports and serves as mentors for the Carolinas HealthCare System DAC Mentoring Program, wherein qualified high school students are partnered with physicians who work to enhance their interest in medicine as a life career. The DAC encourages physicians interested in mentoring students who have expressed an interest in pursuing medicine as a career to contact the Diversity Advisory Committee to become a partner in this worthwhile initiative.
