Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS), one of the nation's leading and most innovative healthcare organizations, provides a full spectrum of healthcare and wellness programs throughout North and South Carolina. Its diverse network of more than 791 healthcare locations includes academic medical centers, hospitals, healthcare pavilions, physician practices, destination centers, surgical and rehabilitation centers, home health agencies, nursing homes and hospice & palliative care. Altogether, our operations comprise more than 7,460 licensed beds and employ more than 60,000 people.
Model Healthcare Across the Carolinas
CHS works to improve and enhance the overall health and well-being of its communities through high quality patient care, medical and clinical education and research and clinical trials, and a variety of collaborative partnerships and initiatives.
A significant milestone occurred in 2010 when Levine Cancer Institute was formed as a result of a $20 million leadership gift from the Leon Levine Foundation. Institute funding is being used to add new research capabilities and enhance community-based care at our hospitals throughout the Carolinas. In addition, Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, which is one of only five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals in North Carolina, was designated as the Charlotte Campus of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
One characteristic common throughout our system is a shared mission that includes commitment to public service and outreach to all individuals. CHS, with its extraordinary staff and broad variety of high quality services and facilities, provides a medical home available to everyone for their lifetime.
Through our medical home model of healthcare, our providers provide personalized care focused on our patients. You will receive convenient, coordinated and sophisticated healthcare.
