For the third consecutive year, Carolinas HealthCare System is ranked among the top 100 U.S. organizations in IDG Computerworld’s "2014 Best Places to Work in IT."
This year, the System is the highest ranking North Carolina organization, placing 20th among 55 large organizations nationwide. Computerworld also ranked 23 mid-sized and 22 small organizations.
The list is based on a comprehensive questionnaire assessing company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings. The ranking has been compiled annually since 1994.
“Carolinas HealthCare System has created a positive, empowering work environment for our teammates by tying IS goals directly with System strategic priorities and engaging in programs that are vital to the success of the entire enterprise,” said Craig Richardville, senior vice president and chief information officer, Carolinas HealthCare System. “Healthcare is definitely ‘ground zero’ for IT professionals looking to make a significant impact in people's lives through their professional careers.”
Among recent significant projects is a rollout of an electronic medical records platform throughout the entire Enterprise, the launch of virtual care/telemedicine initiatives, development of mobile applications for connectivity and increased patient engagement and ubiquitous access to excellent care, and predictive analytics to reduced readmissions and lower the cost of care.
