Levine Children’s Hospital, part of Carolinas HealthCare System, was recently awarded a $75,000 Hyundai Scholar Grant by Hyundai Hope on Wheels. The grant was received by Javier Oesterheld, MD, for his work on developmental therapeutics at The Torrence E. Hemby, Jr. Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center at Levine Children’s Hospital.
Children helped celebrate the grant by putting their handprints on a car. Dr. Oesterheld joined the fun by having kids put their handprints on his lab coat. Since 2005, Levine Children’s Hospital has received $350,000 from Hope on Wheels to advance pediatric cancer research programs.
