Dr. Maya Angelou, Joycelyn Elders to Speak at 11th Annual Diversity Symposium - Archived

Carolinas HealthCare System will host the 11th Annual Diversity Symposium May 6-7 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, NC. The symposium reflects Carolinas HealthCare System’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

This year’s symposium features several renowned keynote speakers including author Dr. Maya Angelou and former Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, MD. Other speakers are among of the nation’s foremost diversity and healthcare thought-leaders, including:

  • Carl A. Hammerschlag, MD, an award-winning speaker, author and healer
  • Anika R. Khan, Director and Senior Economist at Wells Fargo
  • Patrick C. Graham, Ph.D, President/CEO of Urban League of Central Carolinas
  • Stephen R. Keener, MD, Medical Director of Mecklenburg County Health Department

This year’s theme is “The Competitive Edge: Excellence in Healthcare for a Diverse Community.” The symposium symbolizes Carolinas HealthCare System’s values of inclusion, equal opportunity, fairness and equity for its teammates and patients.
