Cabarrus College of Health Sciences and the Carolinas Healthcare System Faith Community Health Ministry are sponsoring a 5-day continuing education course entitled Foundations of Faith Community Nursing. The course will be held 8:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on May 20-24, 2013 at the Cabarrus College of Health Sciences in Concord.
This course is designed for registered nurses interested in becoming or currently serving as Faith Community Nurses in a compensated or non-compensated manner. The course is based on the standard curriculum endorsed by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center (IPNRC).
The course provides nurses with the knowledge necessary to become health advocates, while providing spiritual care to faith-based communities. The curriculum develops nurses into leaders in collaborative health ministry and provides content to develop faith community nursing practices and individual spiritual growth. Faith Community Nursing is non-denominational and open to people of all religions.
The cost is $550 and includes educational material, two Foundations of Faith Community Nursing books, certificate of completion, a Faith Community Nurse stained glass pin with lavaliere from the IPNRC and daily lunch. Course content includes the history and philosophy of Faith Community Nursing.
