Youngest 'Cycle to the Sea' Rider Inspired by Sister (video)

WCNC TV’s Charlotte Today recently featured 11-year-old Abigail, the youngest rider in this year’s Cycle to the Sea event. The 180 mile, 3-day bike ride from Charlotte, NC, to North Myrtle Beach, SC raises funds for Carolina HealthCare System’s Adaptive Sports & Adventure Program. ASAP provides sport opportunities to individuals with disabilities.

Last year, Abigail raised more than $2,000 and trained every day. She's now training for this year's ride which takes place April 25-27. Her inspiration comes from her sister Airn who was born with a disability and is active in ASAP.

“Some people are not as fortunate as me, so I want to give back,” Abigail said.

The story is a part of Charlotte Today’s ongoing feature called “Stories of Hope” sponsored by Levine Children’s Hospital.
