Did you know that self-inflicted violence accounts for one-quarter of all youth violence-related injuries in the U.S. and one-half of youth violence-related deaths? This topic serves as the focus for the Eighth Annual Youth Violence Prevention Conference: “When Violence Turns Inward: Understanding and Preventing Youth Self-Injury” presented by The Violence Prevention Committee at Carolinas Medical Center. The conference takes place March 15, 2013 at the UNC-Charlotte Center City Building.
The conference will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions and breakout session addressing the magnitude of the problem of self-injury, approaches that can be used to reduce the risk of self-injury, and impact of self-injury on the family, community and society. The conference is open to any professional working or planning to work with youth.
