Carolinas HealthCare System’s (CHS) Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) was recently named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of the top 101 Great Orthopedic Programs in the nation, recognizing the hospitals as leaders in orthopedic treatment and research. To develop this list, the editorial team analyzed data from U.S. News & World Report, HealthGrades and Thomson Reuters, as well as the American Nurses Credentialing Center for Magnet status and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association for Blue Distinction status.
After examining rankings and accolades, the team performed additional research into each hospital and analyzed the list with industry experts. CMC demonstrated continual innovation in orthopedic treatments and services and emphasized patient-centered care and forward-thinking research.
“Such recognitions further demonstrate that we have a world class operation in the delivery of musculoskeletal care, and an outstanding faculty that strives to offer the very best care to our patients,” said Edward Hanley, MD, Chair of the Department of Orthopedics at CMC. “Our team is also actively involved in research and continuously contributes to the scientific information basis for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, which brings the most advanced care to those we serve.”
The physicians at CMC offer general orthopedic care and subspecialize in orthopedic oncology, trauma, degenerative arthritis, joint replacements, osteoporosis, sports medicine and fractures, acute and chronic joint disease and injuries of the hand, wrist and below. The hospital also includes spine surgeons and physicians who are able to perform minimally-invasive radiologic procedures.
Orthopedic programs at CHS are continuously recognized by healthcare agencies and organizations. Other accolades include:
