In 2013, Carolinas HealthCare System was recognized locally and nationally for our commitment to delivering efficient, quality care across our continuum. Year after year, we are recognized by many of the top accrediting and ranking organizations in the industry.

U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report surveyed more than 150 pediatric centers to obtain clinical data in 10 specialties and asked 150 pediatric specialists in each specialty where they would send the sickest children. Eighty-nine hospitals ranked in at least one specialty. Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Children’s Hospital ranked in five specialties.

Consumer Choice #1 | National Research Corporation

2013 marked the 17th year that Carolinas Medical Center received the National Research Corporation (NRC) award for Overall Quality and Image. The NRC is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind, covering 300 markets throughout the US.

PRC National | Excellence in Healthcare Award Winner, 2013

Professional Research Consultants (PRC) has designed a multi-tiered award system to recognize healthcare providers who put customers first. Carolinas HealthCare System facilities were presented the following awards in 2013, based on 2012 data: Top Performer, Metro 5-Star Award and Regional 5-Star Customer Service Award.

Magnet Recognized

Carolinas Medical Center and AnMed Health recently joined a prestigious list of hospitals and healthcare organizations that have been recognized as part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®, which recognizes superior quality in nursing care.  ANCC is the largest and most prominent nurses’ credentialing center in the world. This recognition is of the highest level for professional nursing services and superiority in patient care. The recognition is a global award, with fewer than 7 percent of US healthcare organizations recognized. Cone Health and Roper Saint Francis Healthcare, part of Carolinas HealthCare System, also have earned Magnet.

HiMSS Stage 7 Award

Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy was certified with the highest-level Stage 7 designation, becoming the first hospital in North or South Carolina to achieve this recognition for the highest level of EMR adoption, representing the top 2.5% nationwide.

HealthCare’s Most Wired, 2013

Hospitals & Health Networks sponsors the annual Most Wired award, which is an industry-standard benchmark for IT adoption. American Hospital Association information company, distributes, collects and analyzes the Most Wired data and develops benchmarks that are becoming the industry standard for measuring IT adoption for operational, financial and clinical performance in healthcare delivery systems.

Commission on Cancer | 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award

Established in 2004, the Commission on Cancer (CoC) Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA) is designed to recognize cancer programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients. The seven standards that form the basis of the OAA criteria are drawn from the following five areas of program activity: cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, cancer conferences, clinical management and quality improvement.

Truven Health Analytics | Top 100 Hospitals

Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Carolinas HealthCare System Pineville earned this designation in 2013. The renowned Truven Health Analytics annual 100 Top Hospitals® study uses objective research and independent public data to recognize the best hospitals in the nation. The study is unique in that it evaluates hospitals on measures of overall organizational performance, including patient care, operational efficiency and financial stability. It compares hospitals only against similar facilities in terms of size and teaching status. Identified from nearly 3,000 US hospitals, award winners demonstrate that high-quality patient outcomes can be achieved, while improving efficiency.

Truven Health Analytics | Top 15 Health Systems

The Truven Health 15 Top Health Systems study identifies the 15 best health systems in the nation. This annual, quantitative study uses objective, independent research and public data sources. Roper St. Francis Healthcare earned this designation in 2013. Health systems do not apply.
